The educational institutions run by the Shivalik Educational Society (regd.), Chandigarh, rank amongst the best in North India. Making a beginning in 1972, the society now has co-educational, English medium institutions at Chandigarh, Mohali, Nawanshahr and Patiala, which have little more than 5000 students including 4000 boarders receiving education up to senior Secondary Stage of Education.

The Society ventured into the field of Teacher Education with Shuvalik Institute of Education and Research (S.I.E.R.) at SAS Nagar, Mohali, in the year 2005. The inception of this institute in itself is a path breaking step towards qualitative education and its dissemination. S.I.E.R. is affiliated to Punjabi University, Patiala and is recognized by National Council of Teacher Education, New Delhi for B.Ed. course.

The institute is situated on a plot of 10 acres which also houses the school buiding.The magnificent institute is spread over an area of 5 acres earmarked for the building.
